Lumens version 5.0 development begins

Minneapolis, Minn. – June 28, 2004 – The Augusoft development team have begun building version 5.0 of the Lumens Lifelong Learning Management System. This newest version of Augusoft’s flagship product is in the definition phase, where the development team have started to assemble product improvement suggestions gathered from the Augusoft customer support and sales teams.

Following the suggestions that were gathered on customer wish lists, Augusoft programmers have defined the new version to include three new modules in addition to other usability changes. The three new major modules slated for development in version 5.0 are:

  • CEUs will allow Lumens staff users to define custom (or use industry standard) formula for calculating Continuing Education Units (CEUs), and award them to students who complete the recommended contact hours for a class. Class CEUs display on student transcripts and on Lumens grades and attendance reports.
  • The Contract Training module will give Lumens administration and staff users the ability to create and manage a completely separate set of classes for use in contract training.
  • The Class Profitability module will allow Lumens administration users to track actual expenses against budgeted expenses for individual classes and the ability to track individual expenses

Development of version 5.0 will progress through the summer to create and be ready for Beta release in early fall 2004.
