Fifth Continuing Education Study Conducted

Minneapolis, Minn. – January 25, 2019 – Augusoft conducted its fifth Continuing Education Survey (non-credit) in late 2018. It was sent to almost 5,000 organizations; both Augusoft customers and non-customers, in order to reach the largest pool of Continuing Education programs. The purpose is to study trends in program revenues and efficiencies, and analyze how these revenues equate to youth and summer programs, and what technology tools are used to support their administrative process of summer program registrations.

The survey found that of the non-credit programs who participated in the study, over half ranked summer youth programs as approximately one fifth of their overall revenue, (noting that one fifth also abstained from answering or weren’t sure). Of that sample of programs heavily immersed in summer camps, just over half are utilizing a household / family account feature in their implemented software.

The ability to keep track of registrant demographics and emergency contact information in the current process was reported possible by over half of the respondents. Only half noted the ability to register more than one child per transaction. The same respondents indicated that a parent may sign up themselves plus a child in the same transaction. A majority reported gathering additional information with supplemental forms, but only slightly more than half reported the ability to collect this data online as part of the registration process.

In Augusoft Lumens, the household accounts feature allows a parent or guardian the ability to associate a child profile with their own in order to group their accounts and register one or more members of a family in one transaction. Also, a parent of a household account can register more than one child, and/or themselves, in one transaction and staff can automatically collect additional data during the checkout process, reducing the need to manage and hold people accountable for filling out a form or tabulating results. The ability to streamline operations for summer and youth programs is essential to successful growth of a program.

Augusoft plans to continue the survey annually, at minimum, to establish industry benchmarks and share the results with participants to help them continually compare their program to others around the nation.
