AACC has partnered with CMT (Country Music Television) — owned by Viacom — to work with U.S. community colleges who have very high unemployment rates and are at a severe disadvantage to recover due to social and economic issues. This unique partnership which is combined with an online technology resource is showing some small but growing results in providing laid off mining employees and their families hope, support and encouragement to be retrained or go back to college.
Up and coming country music artists, such as Dustin Lynch pictured here, is just one of the music artists that is brought in to support this initiative. CMT and AACC will be partnering with another 9+ community colleges this year.
CMT EMPOWERING EDUCATION is a comprehensive educational campaign that provides an online resource to aid viewers in overcoming the most commonly perceived obstacles to furthering education. The site aggregates the multitude of existing quality information in one easy-to-navigate central location, and creates an individualized education action plan for each user.
