Minneapolis, Minn. – September 7, 2016 – Augusoft’s client, Virginia Community College System (VCCS) won the Virginia Governor’s Technology Award for Innovative Use of Technology award for use of Lumens in its Workforce Enterprise System (WES). The award was presented by the secretary of Technology, Karen Jackson on behalf of Governor Terry McAuliffe on September 7, 2016 at the Commonwealth of Virginia Innovative Technology Symposium (COVITS) ceremony.
VCCS’s WES, powered by Augusoft Lumens, is a web-based system that allows public to browse and register for non-credit continuing education classes online and also provides reports which allows programs to make data-driven decisions for the program(s). Through WES, college workforce divisions in the state of Virginia have been able to increase the efficiency of their work by reducing the need for walk in registrations. WES has also provided the community colleges the ability to effectively market courses that provide preparation for industry certifications and professional licensures that are valued by employers, increasing competency in the Virginia workforce.
VCCS partnered with Augusoft beginning in fall of 2012 to implement Lumens in 23 locations, integrate key data with their SIS system, (PeopleSoft) and create an additional centralized location to consolidate data for VCCS/state reporting needs. WES has been a great success for VCCS and Augusoft.
Virginia’s Community Colleges were created in 1966 to address Virginia’s unmet needs in higher education and workforce training. The newest Strategic Plan, Compete 2021, contains a single goal: to triple the credentials students earn in academic and workforce areas.
