Minneapolis, Minn. – July 28, 2017 – Pearson Workforce’s new video training courses are largely developed for non-credit department, designed for professionals in the Information Technology sector – specific skill or mastery of a set of skills. The classes are mostly entry level classes such as Comp TIA or front-end web development.
The classes follow the basic pedagogical technique of introducing information and then showing how to apply concept. The success of this approach has been carefully compiled with a mix of multiple choice quizzes, drag and drop, simulations, exercises, readings, hands-on interactives, virtual labs and complete with final exams. The videos are filmed as if the student is next to the instructor. The video angle is looking over the shoulder of the instructor, by use of an overhead camera. For a student without access to a hardware lab, this is the next best simulation.
Prior to starting a course, students can self-assess the presumed knowledge in the course by taking an assessment test. If the student scores 70% or higher, it is suggested to skip “Module 0”; if they score below, it is recommended, but not mandatory.
All courses include a capstone project. This allows the student to build a portfolio full of work samples they can share with a prospective employer.
Upon completion, students will receive a badge that can be shared on social media: LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter etc. The viewer can read a summary of the skills attained by clicking on the badge.
