“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times…” – Charles Dickens A Tale of Two Cities.
MINNEAPOLIS – March 14, 2008 - The National Council for Continuing Education and Training (NCCET) and Augusoft, Inc., the #1 leader in non-credit education software market, have partnered with one another to bring attention to the coming crisis in higher education - the coming tsunami and the leadership challenges facing community colleges today. Higher education leaders who attend national and state-wide conferences this year are being introduced to this coming tsunami through a series of dynamic breakout session presentations given by William J. Flynn, Managing Director with NCCET and Cem Erdem, President and CEO of Augusoft.
“In many ways, community colleges face this ambivalent situation today - described in Dickens book, A Tale of Two Cities”, stated Bill Flynn. “In the past 15 years, America’s Presidents have again and again identified community colleges as the best hope for the future of our youth, and have made federal funding available to support new educational and workforce initiatives. Yet never before have community colleges faced such serious challenges as they do today.”
Flynn and Erdem’s presentation briefly describes the ambivalent situation Continuing Education and Workforce Development professionals are currently facing and how these professionals and their internal constituents can help them overcome current and future daunting obstacles. The conference session presentation supplements the recently published NCCET/Augusoft monograph released in late 2007 to community college non-credit education professionals at the 2007 Annual NCCET Conference in Louisville, KY.
“The session presentations and The Coming Tsunami monograph continue to be well received by non-credit education professionals, senior level administrators and Presidents of America’s community colleges”, stated Beth Moorhead, Director of Marketing with Augusoft. “Bill and Cem have been presenting to ‘standing room only’ audiences at recent national conferences including the Workforce Development Institute (WDI) and the League of Innovation – Innovations conferences this year.”
Upcoming session presentations will be at the American Association of Community Colleges’ (AACC) 88th Annual Convention in Philadelphia, PA on April 7, 2008 and again at the Texas Administrators of Continuing Education (TACE) conference in Austin, Texas, on April 24, 2008.
