NACCE Panel Discussion on Business Planning for Entrepreneurs Available for Limited Time

Augusoft Creates Credit Card Payment Gateway to West Virginia State Treasurer's Office
Augusoft announced the release of a credit card payment gateway to connect Augusoft Lumens® to the West Virginia State Treasury Office (WVSTO) for West Virginia University Extended Learning and Pierpont Community & Technical College. This gateway fulfills a requirement by the State of West Virginia for all universities and colleges to provide an electronic payment system for students to use when self-registering for courses online. When David Prosser, 64, graduated from Ryerson University in June of last year, it was his third time there in a cap-and-gown ceremony. In 2005, after ending a lifelong career at Kodak Canada, he enrolled to train as a fundraising manager at Ryerson’s G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education, and now works as a development director for a Toronto-based mental health charity. “It was a big change to get from the corporate world to the non-profit,” he says—but his alma mater was there to help.

As Contract Training Practitioners, you have two fundamental needs related to your institution’s department of Human Resources:
- Hiring staff to work in your unit
- Hiring temporary trainers, instructors, consultants, vendors to deliver the services you have sold to your client
And while the first item on the list is potentially challenging, we are going to focus on the second in this article, as without Human Resources as your ally in this endeavor, it has the potential to shut your operation down. Most Contract Training programs run on a Just-In-Time hiring practice – bringing on board temporary help for just enough time to deliver the client’s training or services. Without the ability to do so easily, you don’t really have a program. (continue)

That's where career and technical education (CTE) comes in. The Association for Career and Technical Education published an issue brief Tuesday on the pivotal role that CTE plays in worker retraining. The brief highlights four major characteristics of new or newly redesigned programs that meet these workers' needs. (continue)
